6V pos grnd tach
This guy is modifying new tachs for 6V pos (or neg) ground.
Better than the vintage SW tachs that go for $500 and up.
Pretty cool. Too bad they look like a cheap auto parts store tach.
Yep beggers can't be choosers as they say!
Unmodified ones are $62 on Amazon
Part of me suspects the guy simply found a tach that has internals that function on a voltage range from 5-16 V or something of the like. A lot of electronics will function on lower voltages than we feed them. I wouldn't be shocked if the "unmodified" one could be dropped in and function if you wire to the system in the right polarity.
