I8 fuel injection and bearing questions
Hey all,
Having some wild hair ideas about putting injectors in a manifold on a I8 . Has anyone any ideas or done projects that can chime in ?
Has anyone converted a i8 to insert bearings? If not have you poured your own bearings?
Thanks in advance

You might contact Bill Hamilton - Hamilton Injection. He does wild injection projects and is a Hudson and International Harvester guy. He is on here sometimes, but you can also catch him on his own site: http://hamiltonfuelinjection.com/. One thing for sure is you would need to convert to 12V if you have not already.

@50C8DAN - Thanks I’ll give it a look, I’m beginning restoration I don’t wanna go to 12v so it may be out of the books . If no fuel injection I’m thinking of having a nice manifold made for duals at least so I can make it run more smooth .

I am not aware of any 6V, FI systems made. You would also need it to work with positive ground. I think you are looking for unobtainium. Most of the ones Bill makes up use modified GM, either throttle body or port injection.

You would be hard pressed to make a Hudson 8 run smoother than as it came from the factory.

Agreed! My 50C8 is so smooth you sometimes can't even hear it run. I was in a parade with it and someone asked if I had changed it to electric.

Well I guess fuel injection is out of the picture , oh well I like my mechanical world anywho .Being a clock maker that that makes me more satisfied haha.
Any ideas about the bearings? Can it be bored out to run inserts or can I pour my own ?
@Geoff - one thing I do know about all I8s is that 1&8 are lean and 4&5 are always rich , I guess my goal would be to solve the inefficiencies.

This was more specifically on the 8's before 1937, when they switched to twin throat carb. There is a V16 Cadillac here that the owner spent thousands of dollars converting to fuel injection, for very little noticeable difference.
