Drive-Master

The 1948 mechanical procedure manual states when the accelerator pedal is depressed the car moves forward in pick-up gear and shifts into high gear when pedal is released. Are they referring to second gear when using the word pick-up gear as it sounds like it only shifts once.
Thanks

No, they're referring to the "kick-down" switch (under the gas pedal) disengaging the overdrive to increase the engine RPM temporarily.

48Sed.  Yes you’re correct.  With Drivemaster, “pickup” gear is second.

James P - the kick down switch is for Overdrive only

OOPS, sorry. I stand corrected and educated, too.
