The reason I said what I said, is because of this picture of the oil pump: The tube in the foreground goes to the engine sump. I think the other one, now crimped off, is supposed to go to the oil pressure gauge. I do not find any other connections on this car.

Other cars, for example the Hupmobile, had oil supplied to the cam shaft bearings. So, with the Hudsons, splash would need to hit the walls and flow down into gallery troughs to feed the main crank bearings. Originally, I thought we were talking about these troughs having a leak-through problem. Guess not, but maybe so.
