51 Commodore Carrier Bearing & U-Joints

Does anyone have part numbers, dimensions or sources for the universal joints and carrier bearing for a 1951 Commodore?
I've heard these parts changed between 1951 and 1952, probably when they changed to the Dana axle.
Any help will be appreciated.

  • I can't think of a reason to change the carrier bearing simply because the rear axle changed. I don't know of differences in the 1951 and 1952 carrier bearing, if any, but NAPA and those using the NAPA catalog get it wrong for '51-54.

The Pacemaker had a smaller carrier bearing than the Super 6, Commodore, and Hornet. NAPA reversed the part numbers and this still creates problems today at NAPA or Rockauto.  The Pacemaker carrier bearing is BCA 88506 the others use the larger BCA 88107.
  • The 3 U-Joints for the 1951, and probably the 1952, are Spicer/Dana 5-153X.
