Holes leading to CAM bearings

I saw an earlier post about 1/4" holes in the block leading to the cam bearings. I have the same on my Terraplane 8 motor. Are these standard with straight 8 blocks and what do you use to plug them?

There are dowels  which locate the bearings.   The holes are plugged with a cup type plug.

And yes, all  H.E.T. engines have them.
  • Thanks Geoff. Do you know where I can get these plugs?

  • Also you mention dowels. Do the dowels remain in the block to how the bearing position? And do you then put the plug over them? Thank you.

yes, the dowels  are pushed into position into the holes in the bearings, with half staying in the block., and the plugs and installed after.  You should be able to get them form an engine rebuilding shop,
