1928 Super Six front axle specifications.

Hi all,

I need a couple of answers regarding the front axle on a 1928 Hudson Super Six (Model S).

1). What is the measurement from center to center of the spring pads?

2). What is the standard front track width (center of tread to center of tread)?.

3). What is the 'wheel mount surface' to 'wheel mount surface' dimension?

Thankyou to any that can help.
Steve.

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. Are there any other axles that can be used so you can have juice brakes?

Nope!  Unless you modify the hubs and fit hydraulics.
  • If it can lock up all four wheels, how much better can it get?  Once we got the right linings fitted to our brake shoes, and went through the procedure to adjust them properly, our 29 coupe stops very well. I had been contemplating a hydraulic conversion, but not any more. I think it will benefit more from a power steering upgrade. But that will have to wait until after I've got my 54 on the road.
