Carburetor adjustment

Is there a certain notch the climatic control should be set at? Right now it is set all the way to the left away from the arrow pointing toward lean. Also how do I adjust the brass screw near the base of the carburetor to get the correct setting?

    You need to find the tune up procedures for your specific carb.  There should be a brass tag with a number on it.  Or you can look up your year and model in one of the repair procedures manuals online.  This will give you some direction.  Without knowing what you have it is difficult to answer your questions.

    Also a carby number stamped on the bottom flange if the brass tag is gone.

    John, I take it you have a WA1 carburettor?  On  Jet?   The best way is to take the air filter off,when cold, and turn the bakelite  drum until the choke only just closes. It should not close real tight, as this will cause the engine to run rough.   The idle jet should be 1 to 1-1/2 turns out from fully closed , with engine hot, adjust so it runs at the most even setting.   turning  out enriches the mixture.   All this is covered in  the tune-up section of the workshop manual.

    Don, there is only one adjustment on the Detroit carburettor, that is the knurled screw.  Adjust with engine hot, so it runs evenly at idle. Turning up leans the mixture.
