Water leak

I recently had my 49 262 out and to the machine shop. A complete overhaul.

This isn't my first rodeo. I think I've overhauled at least 6 step down engines and never had this problem. Upon getting the block back home, I noticed that the upper manifold studs were new. Since the original studs were pretty much "stuck" I left them in the block. There was no charge on my bill for new studs ,so I assumed that they were inadvertantly damaged by the shop and replaced.. No problem right?? Murpheys law kicked in....Upon crankup, I had a few water leaks on the right side of the engine! A good dose of copper block sealer did the trick. At this point, I was not going to remove the fender panel and the twin H manifold... SO the message here, is to put some sealer on the upper studs if you replace them.

PS: If you live in an area of the country that has lots of insects, don't leave your carbs and fuel lines laying around. They will crawl in and plug everything up. Don't ask how I know this...
