Not sure if new idea but I cured my '46 steering 'Road wander' by removing the 'center steering Link Bolt and the original thin bottom washer. I then inserted a thicker (1/8" Grade 8 Washer) which prevents the 'up & down wobble'. I beveled an edge on the washer to start it then drove in. (I installed the bolt with a SAE Locknut because I noticed the steering bound when excessively tightened the original nut). Worked for me....
