Water Pump Interchange

Hello all, 

My 55-56 crate engine that is in my 51 Hornet Sedan seems to have the 48-54 water pump on it.  What is the difference, if any, and are they interchangable?  Thanks all

    The shaft is a little longer on the early pumps, and the fan hub is spaced a little deeper on the shaft. You can use either one on your engine.

    Should have said " longer on the later pumps".... Doesn't change the fact that you can use either one on your engine.
