1946 212 head studs

Hi everyone,

Has anyone replaced the gead studs with grade 8 bolts?  There a couple of studs to retain for accessories but the rest?

Thanks,

Dan

Some thoughts to consider; in most cases the studs thread into the cylinder coolant cavity.  You would need thread sealant that would certainly skew your torque readings. Removing or even re-torquing them after running for a period of time may be difficult or impossible due to corrosion of the threads or sealant adhesion. Not saying it’s impossible but in my mind there are valid reasons they used studs vs bolts
