12 volt negative ground conversion

Converting 47 pickup to 12 volt negative ground using all original gauges.  Specifically do the water temp and fuel gauge need to be wired differently than stock as a in swapping the sender wire and power wires to opposite posts?  Or do they remain as factory?  Does it matter?  All new 12 circuit wiring with a one wire alternator has replaced the old rotten crap. A voltage reducer will feed 6 volts to those two gauges. Thanks for input

The temp and fuel gauges need 6 volts, they don't care if they are +ve or -ve ground. I prefer to feed them through a cheap off ebay 12v to 6v electronic voltage reducer.

Don't neglect the starter. Yes the 6V windings will cope with the extra power for the short time they get used, but the pinion is slamming into the ring gear far harder then either were designed for. Either get it rewound for 12V or replace it with a modern geared starter.
