    Hi Pete,
I was luck enough to have acquired a lock picking kit from a very old neighbor friend before he passed back in early 2000's. Stashed it until last Friday when a half day search uncover it. My locking block had the B&S tumbler so I spent Sat night picking it. To my surprise only took 10 minutes before I got the right curly ended pick to unlock it. Now it took another hour to remove the tumbler. Most of that time I found I was turning it the wrong way to extract. With button held in and picking tools in it goes counter clock wise.

Once out it looks pretty easy to take a blank and file down 5 slots on the key to flush the wafers. So I ordered 10 B4 blanks off Ebay. Ahhhh another challenge!

I tried to insert the lock block into the arm and found it just a bit to big. So spent the day reshaping the lock block to correctly fit. Now ready for its lock tumbler and new key.

    Jack,

Heres what I have.  I think its a pretty normal setup the lock was standard equipment on all models.  The clamp should be chromed.

I bought a spare B&S lock barrel and key on eBay some time back, but my locksmithing skills are nil so nothing has happened.  The current lock works fine but look bad (in sync with the rest of the car&).

    Pete

    Ok 6.00, thanks.

    One last question.

On your hold down bracket which we both share the same type, do you have the locking option?

Inside the oval area of that bracket I have special nut with a large slot screw head, followed by an unthreaded 3/4" detent for the locking pin followed by a hex bolt head. All of which threads onto the threaded rod in the trough.

Well, the spare today is a 6.00 x 19, correct size for my car, but obviously a profile thats pretty close to what was being done in 1929.   The one that wouldnt fit was a recent acquisition about 2 years back, and Right now I cant remember what brand it was.

    Hi Jack,

The tire size problem was temporary as the tire in question is now on one of the road wheels.  Geoff commented at the time that theres a big profile variance across manufacturers.   Id expect that 6.50 x 19 will be a very tight fit when its inflated!

My clamp looks the same as yours.

    Cheers

    Peter

    Hi Pete,

Was curious as to your spare tire. I've been working my way up the pass side. I put in a plain 6.50/19 tire, no rim, for fitting. Deflated everything seems to fit of with the below pictures clamp. I remember you said your inflated tire did not fit the trough. What did you do to remedy. Aldo the center "V" in that clamp forces down on the rim. Is this the same clamp you have?

    Thanks

    Jack

I found this and with our locks all being B&S, this manual will help. Covers ~1931 forward having Hudson references. This will help those needing door, ignition, etc help.
