1947 hudson 3 speed trans

i am replacing with a working 46 3 speed. what do i use to rinse out old lube once its drained? how long do i leave the rinsing agent in before draining? fill with 80-90 gear lube,how much lube ? hudson paperwork likes to use a weight instead of ounces. thank you

    Take the top off if acessable, Drain old lube, flush with kerosene, drain good and blow out with air, then refill though the access plug on the right hand side with gear lube until it runs out.

    how long do i leave the kerosene in,fill and drain right away or ? thanks

    I use Lucas in the transmission of my cars.

    The main thing you need to worry about is getting rid of the debris in the bottom of the case. Put an inch or so of kero in the gearbox, leave it sit for an hour or so, drain it out through the plug in the bottom into a container, inspect for foreign objects, repeat as required.
