‘47 212 engine water distribution plate and pipe

Here is something that has bothered me for more than 20 years and I just have not asked about it. The pipe coming up off the water distribution plate on my ‘47 Hudson 212 engine seems to be a little off. It puts a slight dogleg in the radiator hose that connects the pipe and the water pump. It looks like it was just manufactured incorrectly and should be pointed a little more towards the engine block and then the hose would line up.

Has anyone else seen a hose with a dogleg like that?  If it is incorrect, now would be the time to replace it before I go to the effort of bead blasting, priming and painting it.

If it is incorrect, does anyone have a correct one they would be willing to sell?

Thanks.  Tom

  • Thats funny, my 36 T  212 hose pipe is off too but in the oposite direction. It makes the hose dogleg towards the engine head!

Quality control at the factory needs to be tightened!
  • I keep writing to the factory, but no one responds.  What’s wrong with those people?

Perhaps they are still under lock-down!
