What should I use as gearbox oil ?
Is it OK to use an EP type such as Castrol EP90 ? Or should it be a non-EP type such as Castrol ST90 ?

Handbook states EP90 for summer and EP80 for winter.   You can get a multi 80-90 these days, just make sure it states "usable with copper based compounds" or similar wording.

    Thank you, Geoff.

It sounds like Castrol Classic EP90 (which is GL4 specification and said to be OK for brass, bronze and copper components) will be suitable - and easy to get hold of in the UK.

That sounds  fine.  I use Penrite 80W-90 in my Jet and Hornet (both overdrive), and 85W-140 in my Essex, which has straight cut gears.

I can actually buy the Penrite oil here on the Isle of Wight.
Anything else would have to be bought online and shipped here - a penalty for living in what is probably one of the most rural and unspoiled parts of Britain ; local availability of whatever  you desperately need is generally zero.
The stockist is only a couple of miles away from home, so I am off down there later today.
