What is the current best type of pistons for a 308 rebuild.  I know that many have moved away from the original 4 ring pinned design, but what is the situation with 3 ring and piston scuff in the cylinder walls and are hypereutectics available?

I have several builds under my belt now.  I have always had the idea if you have the engine out of the car...do it right.  I have done them several ways but for me it means indepth close tolerance machining, aluminum pistons (it is simpler to machine and balance) then slotted racing rings.  Randy Maas has a cam designed for what you want for performance.  "Go all the way or go home..."

The engine is sitting in my garage with Kroil in each cylinder.  Finally got all but 2 head bolts out.  Only broke of one bolt off, but the machine shop can get this one.  I need to get the blasted Hydromatic undone and then move on.
