Fuel regulator query

Having given up trying with the worn-out Carter W1 on my 1934 Hudson Eight, I bought one of those Zenith 228 lookalike "Universal Carburetors" from Daytona Parts. Has anyone else used one of these carbs? Any problems with them?
I want to run the carb with an electric fuel pump that delivers 5 - 8 psi.
I guess I'm going to have to reduce the pump pressure with an adjustable regulator - please could I have some suggestions what pressure I should set it at ? With the old Carter, it didn't matter what pressure I set it at, it still over-fuelled!

I use this Carter rotary 6volt fuel pump for priming my '51:

The fuel pressure seems about right.
I've considered abandoning the mechanical fuel pump and running off this exclusively.

I have a Zenith on my Jet, with an  adustable main jet, and works just fine.
