1940 Hudson is a  fly wheel the same on a car with an overdriver as one without  i know the clutch and plate is larger

Yes and no!  If your car is an 8 cylinder then  the clutch is the same.  If a 6 cyl, then clutch is too small to handle an overdrive.  Flywheels are different for 9" and 10" clutches, and you need the 10" unit for overdrive.
