Transmission stabilisers

What is your opinion of the usefulness of the rubber bumpers each side of the transmission on '34-'40 models?   I plan on leaving them out of the '36 8cyl I'm currently  working on, as they did not bother fitting them on the later models.   Your views appreciated. ?

I believe they are important as they help reduce vibration and torque. I also look forward to hearing other comments

Just to clarify, the bumpers I refer to are fitted tot he chassis, and press against the sides of the transmission.  So they would not have made any difference Ken, to the bell housing in the instance you show, as it would have been weight downwards caused this breakage I imagine.

Ken, Wouldn't a later bellhousing fit?
