    Unless you want to be 100% original,  it is better to adapt a double acting type.

    too much to explain here, first put in fluid and see if it works. I had some that seemed fine, then found hard rubber discs in barrel with lever pressing on them. they seemed good.  Never found any "U curve Specs" on old lovejoy, delco, wagner or any other old shock to know how to compare "moment arm" efforts or effect.
