Info Wanted regarding Hydramatic Shifting

hey guys - i have a '53 hornet w/ dual range hydramatic

- i have read about causes for harsh shifting, as well as how to adjust - i have mine adjusted as best as i can - 1-2 and 3-4 shifts up and down are fine - 2-3 shift up and down are both harsh - the 2-3 up shift is much smooth under full throttle

- i have driven a few hornet hydramatics, and i have had my car driven by another experienced hornet owner - my car shifts better than the few i've driven, and the other owner says that mine shifts fine

- i know hydramatics are not modern, but by comparison, the automatic tranny in my '66 Mercedes (introduced in 1961) shifts much better, although that transmission is not as smooth as a '80s to '90s more modern auto

- before i start delving deeper, i wanted to ask what other's experiences are with these hydramatics and their shifting?

- maybe the harsh 2-3 up and down shifts are as good as it gets?

thanks for looking!
