After watching some videos on line about gas tank sending unit testing, i gave mine a try on the 37 coupe.   Now I dont know if this is even the correct sending unit but i cannot get any ohm - resistance reading on anything ive been touching on it.   Can anyone help me understand 1) if this unit will even work with my 37 Hudson, 2) how to test it and 3) if it is indeed bad where can i find a replacement unit?

Anyone have a replacement unit in their 37?  I need to get something going & the tank back in the car.  I grabbed a Stewart Warner unit today at a local parts store but I’d really like some help here!
  • Have you tried Wildrick Rubber parts? I think Doug has made new gas tank sending units. I don't know what years they fit. Call him.

Thanks for the thought & yes I did get a hold of him.  Ideally I’d like to find something local that could work.  It gets old when everything I work on causes another week delay just to get a part.

Definitely not like milk, Fords or Chevy’s.

I located a Stewart Warner unit #385B-F & when testing this morning I found it does work some what.  Full on the sending unit gives me 1/2 tank on the gauge & 1/2 full on the sending unit gives me empty on the gauge.   Not sure if there is a specific ohms range that works, but it’s doing something so it’s a start.
