I found a voltage regulator for our 54 Hornet Standard VR 2 It is 6 v pos or neg. Only difference is the new regulator has the contacts all on the same side. Ray

    Standard VR2
  • Oh, I see it now. It looks like a good value. I also found something like what's on my car now, at double the price!

I wonder if mine needs replacing? I don't ever use the headlights, but my AMP light used to come on when the car was running rough due to my vacuum leak. My speedometer also jumps around a lot, but I think it just needs cleaning and lubrication. I don't know if either of these things are actual symptoms of a bad regulator.

Speedometer has nothing to with voltage!

Ha, yeah, I didn't think so. I knew they were mechanical. I just Googled the symptoms for a bad voltage regulator, and that was the first thing they mentioned, but I'm sure they were talking about later model cars with electronic speedometers.
