Stuck clutch

HI looking for advice on how to unstick the clutch on a 1934 terraplane. It was at a shop getting interior done so it has been sitting for about 6 months. When we picked it up today the clutch was stuck. We tried to drive it dumping the clutch to break it free, but nothing seemed  to work. Hoping we don't have to take the transmission out. Any thoughts?

It's an old story, with Hudsons which have sat for some time.

The standard cure is to dump out the Hudsonite and replace it with a solvent which will get in and loosen up the corks.

Ken Cates has a "recipe" for brewing up the solvent, at his website for StepDowns, http://hudsonrestoration1948-54.com/  Click "Clutch Service" on the left-hand menu.

Of course, if you go to drain your Hudsonite and nothing comes out, it means the clutch was dry.  In that case, adding the requisite amount of Hudsonites (or ATF, if it's of the correct type) might be all you need to limber up those clutch corks!
  • Ok thanks!! will give it a try.
