    A non-OD 1949 rear axle has 4.10 ratio.

    Sorry I go to school during the week and it has been busy.  I honestly don't know much about it as I am in South Dakota for school at the hot rod institute. The axle came out of my 49 super six and is in Nebraska where I am from. I am going home on the 11th and plan on getting some photos and measurments.

    There is a (minor) chance that -- being a S.Dakota car -- this Hudson might have been fitted with a high-speed rearend.  Is there any easy way for Karluva to determine the ratio?  Is it stamped anywhere on the housing?  Or, if it's off the car, can he simply spin wheels and count revolutions?

    ratio is stamped on upper left quadrant of pumpkin.  You'll need a wire brish, a great light and some luck to find it.
