Ford pickup trucks, 1946 to 1954 are six volt.  New sending units for these are readily available.  It fits the six-hole opening in the stepdown gas tank perfectly.

Information for those who need it...

In the process of changing the sending unit on one of my 1954 Hudsons.   The sending unit I am installing is a rebuilt OEM unit.  It was repaired to specifications used in the original application.  Full 13 Ohms and Empty 74 Ohms.

Measured my Ford 6 volt Sending unit- Full 21 Ohms and Empty 134 Ohms.   The guage operates with this sender, but stops at 3/4 full when the sending unit is at 21 Ohms.   The emplty end of the guage occurs before the 134 Ohms is reached... so linerizing the guage might be attained by bending the arm to change the range of movement and therefor keep the sender between 13 and 74 ohms?

For the record, I am using a PAULARGETYPE sender in my other 1954 Hudson.
