Does anyone know which later 12v solenoid will work to replace the 6v one on a 53 Hornet?

I think he's asking about the solenoid mounted to the overdrive unit on the transmission.

I have read that the 57 Chevy solenoid will work? Probably most 12v borg warner units will work?

Google Borg Warner overdrive.  There's a company in CA that sells a 12v solenoid that is designed for Borg Warner overdrives for $300.  I bought one and I couldn't get it to work.  I returned it when I figured out the original solenoid worked by using a voltage reducer.....

Yes, I am talking about the OD solenoid that bolts into the OD transmission.
Ken Cates suggested a Studebaker 12v solenoid as they used the BorgWarner od as well.
    Studebaker International has new ones-

SI doesn't have any in stock.
Just talked with Northwest Transmission parts and they will re-wire a 6v OD solenoid to 12V.
