Generator polarity

For anyone, LIKE MYSELF, who forgot how to polarize a generator, here is what the 42-47 Hudson Mechanical Procedure Manual states:

"To prevent the generator polarity being reversed, the generator should be "flashed". Flashing is done by connecting a jumper wire to the starting motor battery terminal and tapping it several times against the "A" terminal of the generator.

To check the generator after flashing it, start the engine and speed it up. The generator charge indicator light should go out and stay out as long as the engine is running above idle speed. Turn off the ignition until the engine stops, then turn it on again. The generator charge indicator light should turn on, indicating that the circuit breaker points are not stuck."

I hope this will help other beside myself.

Know that I found this and learning the proper coil wire hook up I can get back to work on my 47 pu.

Have a good day. Lee
