I have started adding another page on my web site - the Ditz-lac Intermix numbers for Hudson. At the moment we have done 1929 thru 1933 Hudson - will be adding other years along with some Essex and Terraplane as we go along.

Would like to see a picture of a 29 Hudson standard sedan with the Maroon-Red-Black combo. I have seen a picture of a Essex at the Harris Auto Museum that looks to be the same colors but not sure. I do like the Essex colors and would like to do my 29 in those colors.I take it the interior color on the standard sedans were all the same ? Kind of a olive drab like my original in need of replacement interior is ? I think a Gray with the Reds would look great. Ron PS..I am counting down and can not wait for the Auburn Indiana Nationals. Hope to see some older Hudson products and some great people there.

I need someone with these numbers from the 1941-1946 sheet to check what I have posted. I have been working from a very, very poor Zerox copy and my eyes ain't what they used to be. I've tried very hard to get it right - but I'd appreciate somebody with the Ditzlac color chart checking my post.

Ok, I found the pot of gold. Found a 1941-1954 Dupont Hudson paint list on ebay, for $5 - no chips, but I don't need those. So when that list arrives we will put it on the web site.

Would this have the paint mix codes for 1950 Revue Red?

Just the thread that I've been waiting for - I'll take Jays lead and add one.



I met a guy at a Cruise In in Phoenix that ak me if I knew where to get the color chips and paint codes for a "57 Hornet.



Does anyone have any leads on these items? I told him that I'd watch out for a lead on them and let him know. He's a snow bird and in Phoenix and summers in Ashton, Idaho.

I looked up the site and they say the revue red is on the '49 sheet, but when I look its not there, or is it under a different name? My original sales order on the coupe says revue red, so I was hoping I could find the paint codes somewhere and have some made up to see if I like the color.

Hello Folks, I really hate for my first post to a zombie post.

I'm looking for some paint info for a 29 Essex. Seems almost all my searches lead back to this thread. With that, the link from hudsontech is dead or broken. Could you anyone point me to where this info might be today?

The color number might get you the same color today, but possibly someone changed the name of the color along the way.  You should take some sort of sample with you when you go to get this paint mixed up, just to be on the safe side.

Spoiler alert.... none of the colors can be correctly mixed any more.  In the mid 80's the government removed lead from all the paint that could be mixed.  Every color of base mix had lead in it.  Today, you can get a color match but no one today has exact color paint.  With the change to water base paint any possibility of matching color has become a non possibility.  Only option is to find some original paint at a swap meet, mix some up and paint a section of metal and have a match done at a local paint distributor.

It will be close, but never exact..  I do not use laquer.

I plan to paint my 54 Lipstick Red.  I obtained a pint of original in a very rusted can.  The inside had no rust so I mixed a sample and painted an old car plate.  Got a sample from Auto Color Library and did the same.  First, they sent me the wrong color, and when I paid to get the right color the shade was off quite a bit to the orange side.  I took it too my local paint jobber and they verified my evaluation.  I contacted Auto Color and they told me that red is hard to match and to spray correctly and suggested that I had made a mistake with my old paint and their paint was a correct match.  This may be true, however since I have been painting cars since the mid/late 50's I will not accept their evaluation.  I guess it is up to every one to make their own decision.

Not in California. Here in the mid-west.

My paint days ended in 83. So there have been many changes, many times. I do work with colorant for plastic. When the lead / heavy metal was removed. The color houses matched the old colors dead on.
