Bringing our 1931 Essex Sport Roadster to the forum

Hello from Ohio.

My father-in-law, Buzz Potter of Potomac, Maryland passed away at age 99 last Thanksgiving morning. His daughter and I have inherited his 1931 Essex boattail. We will move it to our home in Lexington, Ohio and begin to enjoy the HET life as best we can. It comes with a wealth of documented history. He last drove it in 2004, so it is in need of some TLC to be road-worthy again. I'm looking forward to the adventure and new friends, near and far.

Here's a photo of the car from some years ago, that I just found on the Internet.  Buzz was very proud of it.  He had owned it as a young man, back in the 1930's, then sold it.  Many years later (possibly in the 1980's) he had a hankering to buy one just like it and found one listed for sale.  He bought it, got it home, and was then stunned to discover (via the serial number) that is WAS his old Essex!

  • Welcome Fred!  That sounds like a rare car.  Please post pictures when you get the chance.  We are visual creatures... :-)
