37 terraplane lens removal

Anyone have a tip on how to remove the glass lens from the brake lights on the rear end without breaking them? It says press but I'll be darn if I can get it out.

The lens is slightly oval, so the trick is to press at the bottom and push downwards, so the lens goes in to the housing  and the top of the lens protrudes out the opening, whence you can withdraw it through the body.

Push in on bottom of lens, and slide downward at the same time, as far down as it will go.  The top of the lens will then protrude from the body of the light.  Carefully snag that (maybe with a plastic credit card; but, nothing metal) and carefully pull the entire lens out (raising it up slightly as you do so, to free the bottom portion).

    Reverse to install.

It helps to cover the floor or ground below the fender with a pillow or several layers of towels, in case the lens slips out of your hand.
