I want to take the whole thing out to clean then wire wheel/paint the floors.  On other cars I've had there were bolts beneath the floor.  I found four of them on the Hudson but before I go undoing things I figured I'd ask.

Its a 48 commodore coupe if that matters.

Thanks all!

  • The sliding mech. is attached to the floor, then the seat is attached to 'rails' that move. You will eventually remove those nuts so just start there, if you want to.

Suggest POR15 be used on both sides of the floor.

I have a pre-war car but maybe the StepDowns are similar, in that it is helpful to first remove the seat cushion, which exposes a lot of the frame and mechanism, and generally makes it easier to work on the thing.

thanks all - and thanks for the link OldFarmer.

I got it sorted.  All of 4 scres from the TOP of the seat frame - not the bottom lol.  Now I have to re-install the 3 bolts from beneath that I took out.

Ok well, step 1 done. Tonight is vacuum the whole mess.
